Valley JROTC, activated in 1993, is a leadership development course in which students are given an inside-out view of all facets of leadership theory-from that of a follower in one’s first year to the fourth year cadets which comprise the chain of command. The program boasts five West Point cadets and dozens of ROTC scholarships cadets who have and are now serving in various parts of the world in the Army, National Guard and Army Reserve.

Our mission is "To Motivate Young People To Be Better Citizens". We do not recruit for the military however we assist the cadets when they express an interest in any branch of the military in making the right decision. We encourage higher education, approximately 90% of all our cadets who have spent four years in the program have gone on to college since the program started. After school, cadets are given the opportunity to further their leadership skills on various special teams. Cadets participating in armed and unarmed drill teams are taught to maintain attention to detail, and discipline is ingrained while compiling and performing drill exhibitions. The color guard becomes thoroughly versed in the intricacies of military customs and traditions, and the PT team meets after school to further each cadet’s progress in achieving peak fitness.
Every spring, cadets are invited to participate in the Junior Cadet Leadership Camp (JCLC)- a training function at which cadets are taught to

be confident and proficient in such skills as rappelling, land navigation, confidence course, and drown-proofing. JCLC also provides a valuable opportunity for cadets to get some hands on leadership experience as well as learning to step outside of one’s comfort zone. Stay posted for an update this spring on this year’s camp.
The 2009-2010 JCLC will be held in San Luis Obispo, CA through the week of March 22-26. All cadets with intentions to attend must meet physical requirements on their Cadet Challenge tests. Miles must be completed under 10 minutes. Push-ups and curl-ups vary by gender and age. Check the cadet reference guide for the scorechart.
